Take from this class

For me I will take a few different things from this class. I will always remember that people are not watching me as closely as I feel they are. I will remember how to stay calm when having to get up in front of people. There are many things in life that we must get up in front of people so I will be able to take all the techniques I learned and how to be confident from practicing public speaking in this class. I also want to be a teacher and that means getting up in front of people and staying organized, so this gave me a small view of what it is like to get up in front of a group of people and I can use all the ways of organization I learned in my future public speaking situations. I will also remember that it is not as bad as we make it out to be. We are simply getting the opportunity to share information we are passionate about.

Favorite Speech

My favorite speech was actually the demonstration speech. I find that doing something with my hands and having to show how to do something helps keep me calm. When I have to just stand up there and talk I get a lot more nervous. So since I was able to demonstrate something it was the speech I was the least nervous for. Overall I do not like giving speeches at all, but if I had to pick a favorite that would be my favorite. I also liked that the context was lite it was not very complicated to write. I also got to bake so that was fun because I love baking. It was my favorite because it was simple, light hearted, active, and I got to do something I love to do. If I had to pick my favorite based off of context I would say the persuasive speech because I get to share something I truly believe in and I am passionate about. That is how I felt about all the speeches because we got to pick our topics so I picked things that I think everyone should know about and that I am passionate about, so in the form of simply context they were all good for me. I guess the demonstration speech was just the one I was the least nervous for.

Most helpful Concepts

For me the most helpful part was the very beginning of the class when the book talked about how to handle nerves. The relabeling, visualization, and relaxation part really helped me to put things into perceptive. Also when the book talked about how I think the audience is noticing more than they actually are was extremely helpful too. Now every time I get up in front of the class I just remind myself that I do not have to be nervous because they are not really even paying that close  of attention. I also try to get myself excited for speech day instead of being nervous I use the relabeling technique and get excited to share information on something I am passionate about. I always try to imagine my speech as a success when practicing but I still shake and my voice shakes too, but I feel a little less nervous inside. Overall that was my favorite concept because I can apply it to anything I get nervous about.

Speech buddy videos

I think that the speech buddy videos for these chapters were very helpful. I really liked the girls speech because she did not use as much movement as the guy. They both had great organization and got their main points across. I did not like that the guy used more movement for me it is personally distracting when they move that much but he still had a good speech he did not use so much movement that it was completely distracting. I like that the girl did not look down hardly at all she used her note cards but in a very productive way. I liked that her tone was steady.  Over all I would say these videos showed in their speeches everything we learned so it was good to see everything put to use

Using evidence effectively

For our pursuasive speech I know we will need to use a lot of evidence so I want to go over how to use it effectively. There are four different emotional appeals that make evidence effective. One of them is logos which is logical appeals which is what we normally use with facts l, statistics, definitions and or testimony. The second one is ethos which is the emotional part of credibility . We want our audience to see us as trustworthy, like able, and dynamic. The third appeal is pathos which is emotional appeals. Examples of emotional appeals would be bodily needs, safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self fullfillment. With this they make it personal to each individual and how it affects them. The last appeal is mythos which is cultural beliefs. By using these appeals the speaker is able to better connect to their audience which in return makes for a successful speech

Persuading in daily life

I recently was talking to a friend about smoking weed and drinking. I was trying to explain to him all the reasons we are better off living a sober life. In summary I was trying to pursuade him to stop using drugs and alchol. Some of the points I made were that why would a person give into addiction when they have the strength of God on their side. I also told him to put it in to perspective of the future. I asked if he would allow pot plants and alchol around his kids when they were growing up. Of course he said absolutely not. I also asked him if doing the things he was doing on a regular basis would get him to become the husband and dad that God wants him to be and He wants to be. Again the answer was no. Overall I would say having him look through the eyes of God and what he wanted for his realationship with God, and then putting his addictions into the percepective of the future life he wanted worked very well. He said he agreed and would just have to feel it in his heart to take action to live the life god wants him to live. He agreed so now we will see if he takes action.

Which organizational pattern would you choose

In our textbook it states the definition of Monroe's motivated sequence is "a five-step pattern of organization that requires speakers to identify and respond to what will motivate an audience to pay attention". The definition of the problem-solution pattern is "a pattern that organizes a speech by describing a problem and providing possible solutions. Both of these organizational patterns are used to persuade an audience. In the Monroe's sequence you must first gain the audience's attention by making it personal and giving them a reason to listen. The second step is to give them a need for the information and show they are missing important information and there is an issue requiring their attention. The third step is to give a solution to the problem or give them the information they do not have. In the fourth step the speaker must help their audience to see the outcome of if they put their information to use or if they do not. The last step is to motivate the audience to put their information into action. The problem solution pattern is used to convince the audience that a certain issue needs a certain solution or action. I will be using Monroe's sequence because for my topic of being pro exercise there are many problems that occur when one does not exercise, so it would be hard to establish one issue.

How we are immersed in Persuasion everyday

Every single day I listen to the radio or watch television there are advertisements trying to persuade me to buy their product, to try a different diet that will supposedly be different then all the other fads and that is just a few ways that external forces are trying to persuade me on a daily basis. Then there are all the people I speak with every single day that try to persuade me to do what they are doing, like what they like, believe in what they believe, and all the other factors. Then we go to class and our professors are trying to persuade us to believe we need to learn what they are teaching because it is important. In the work place people are talking about different things and they are very opinionated and want you to see their what is the right way. When we access the Internet there are advertisements that are trying to get us to buy their product. Each second we are around people, media, talk shows, or even just on the Internet we are being persuaded even if we do not realize it. This is why I personally believe we have to be very aware of others influence and remember to stand up for what we believe.

Managing Voice

I want to go over how to manage our voices. I feel that it is very easy when we are nervous to speak to fast, to quit, stutter, or forget what we are talking about. That is why it is important to make sure we focus on our voice. We must speak loud enough. Not to loud where we are yelling or to quite where no one can here us, but at a happy medium. We must pay attention to out rate which is the speed of our voice, so not to fast or to slow. Pitch is another factor that we must take into consideration. It is important that we do not use a monotone voice where our pitch is never changes through the speech. If we practice vocal variety we will be successful in using changes in volume, rate, and our pitch that changes the meaning of the words we are speaking. It is important to avoid pauses that use filler words like "ah", "um", or "you know". Make sure to articulate words which is the "physical process of producing specific speech sounds to make language intelligible" and also we must focus on pronunciation. Overall managing our voices can be tough with nervousness, but I am hoping that if we all focus on these factors that our speeches will come off more prepared and be more entertaining to listen to.

offensive language

According to the post on flickr the first post agrees with our book about certain language being offensive especially sexist language. The responses to the first post did not agree with our book. Most people said this is modern society and if a woman is called a girl It is not a big deal. I personally agree with the fact that there is not much that can offend me, but I also believe we should be aware of using language that has the potential to hurt others feelings. No one wants their own feelings hurt so it is important to not hurt others feelings. In the context of a classroom speech it is more important to be aware of your language choice· When speaking to a large group that we are getting graded to speak to you definitely do nit want to offend anyone. On a blog I think it is different because everyone there is choosing to be on there. A casual setting versus a formal setting can be more laid back in using language that has the potential to be offensive, but in a formal setting it is not an option but to be very aware of using a certain type of language that will not offend anyone

The first video for chapter 10 goes over using language to engage your audience. This can be done by putting language in context as in relating to what is currently going on whether that is referring to your audience or an event that happened on campus. Using personal language is the next one by using words like we, us, you, and I. Use inclusive language which means not using words people may not understand or may offend them. Use visual language which includes similes, metaphors, parallelism, rhymes, alliteration, and antithesis. It also goes over sparking imagination with language by asking the audience to visualize a story or idea. The second video for section 10.2 Talks about using effective language by using meaningful words, balance between clarity and ambiguity, be concise, avoid offensive language, build repetition, and don't get attached to your words. The first video for chapter 12 goes over delivery. Paying attention to volume, pitch, rate, avoid pauses, do not use monotone voice, and use good articulation and pronunciation. The next video goes over good delivery with eye contact, facial expressions, effective body movement, gestures, and appearance. The third video for chapter 12 goes over practicing your speech. You can do this by using your presentation outline and your note cards. They say you can practice your speech in sections. Practice in front of small audience and your confidence will be boosted. I though the most helpful part was that it talked about delivery and engaging my audience through language because I personally overlook that.

Self Evaluation Assignment #2

I thought that I did well in achieving my purpose of my speech. The purpose was to inform the class what the tough mudder was like and I felt that I was able to get through to them. I felt pretty confident and relaxed during my speech. Practice really does make perfect because it is getting easier the more I get up in front of people. I would have spent more time practicing before hand because I got a little bit to casual. I would organize my speech more in my outline and spend more time doing the PowerPoint. I wish I would have remembered to cite my sources! I always seem to forget. The goal I have to better improve my content is just more research. I will improve my delivery by practicing more before hand. The difference from my last speech was that I was not as nervous. I did not like using the PowerPoint because I feel like I end up getting into my PowerPoint and not focusing on the audience. The part that was bad and different was I said um and filler words a lot. That caused me and the audience to be distracting because I used to many filler words. I did not fidget a lot which was a huge improvement. I need to better improve my eye contact when I am using a PowerPoint, but I did feel I did a little better than last time with eye contact. Overall I would say my eye contact was about a six. I would give myself a B I did good but not awesome. I only mentioned one citation which was better than last time when I mentioned none but I need to cite four sources. Overall it was better than my last speech but there is still room for improvement and hopefully the next one will be even better than this one. Next time I plan on preparing further in advance so that way I am able to better focus on my organization and I can review it over and over. I had a lot of computer problems with this speech so that messed me up on having  enough time to fine tune my speech. I need to not use filler words, cite my sources, and just be more prepared. I kind of feel like it is impossible to prepare because once you are up there you can have practiced over and over and sometimes you just get to nervous and do a totally different thing than planned at least that is how it is for me. I will also try to just stay calm I felt relaxed but I did start to shake a little bit so hopefully next time I can shake that. I would really like to be able to just do one speech flawlessly so hopefully this reflection will help me better my next speech because I can see where I went wrong. I know that I will improve on my next speech and I hope that I do not make the same mistakes. I will focus on citing my sources and I will do much better research on my persuasive speech.

Presentation Media

Our responsibility for ethics in presentation media is to be aware of our audience. Not only must we be aware of what will speak to them most but also what will offend them.  you do not want to show a picture or video that will hurt your viewers feelings or make them develop a dislike for you. The speaker must also make sure that the images are not too disturbing. Also make sure any writing on the images or videos must be understood by the audience. It is important to not use a vocabulary that your audience will not understand. For me the hardest thing is to be aware of other people's view s on my subject because I get very focused on the point I am trying to get across and then I forget to look at my ethical responsibility which in basic terms is just to be aware of others feelings about all subjects and to take in to account that we all have different vocabulary.

Speech reflection

I went to church this week and our speaker used presentation media. It was helpful because it put emphasis on the main points he was trying to get across. One of the points was that we should help eachother feel worthy or in other words compliment each other so there was a clip from friends that played on the screen of them giving compliments and what it should look like. Another way he used presentation media was in a PowerPoint all the main points would show up on the screen. Overall it was tell a story show the point on the screen and then explain it again. I found the media presentation help me focus in on what he was actually trying to say. I would say that it would depend on your learning style whether the media presentation can be distracting or not. For someone that learns better visually it will be helpful to have the media presentation, but if listening is your best way to learn and things in front of you are a distraction then I would say it will not be helpful. In conclusion media presentation was helpful at church and it helps me regularly.

digital Slide Design tips

I thought that the tips about PowerPoint slides would be helpful considering that is what we have to use for our next speech. Some tips are to avoid using text or numbers as the main source of information on the slides because slides should be more visual. If you must use text use bullet points and give yourself a limited amount of points and stick to that number. Limit number of words for each bullet point that way you will not over use textual information. Make sure your font is large and clean that way your able to fit all the information, but your audience can still see it. Make sure your transitions fit in the the vibe you are trying to give off for the speech it is best if everything flows. Last but not least try to avoid special effects and use color well. Overall we want our slides to look organized condensed and to still be effective, so use the tips and your slide show is sure to be a success.

Intro and conclusion

For the introduction it is important to have an attention getter such as a narrative, a question, humor, state a statistic or anything along those lines. Then you must state your purpose and thesis which includes your subject and what you would like your audience to get from your speech. Now you have to make sure you establish credibility this will make your audience believe in you. Lastly is to preview main points this makes it so your audience has a sense of where the time they have with you will lead them.
Example:
Can I get a horay. Horay! Let me get a horay!? Horay! I still can't here you! Horay! (attention getter). This is what the starting line of the September 2012 Tahoe tough mudder sounded like. I had been working out with a trainer for three months to prepare for this eleven mile journey and it was finally happening.(credibility). This was an amazing experience and I would like to inform you guys what it was all about.(thesis and purpose) today we will talk about the history of the tough mudder, actually doing the tough mudder, and then I will share my personal experience.(preview of 3 points). Let's get started talking about the history of the mudder.(transition)

In the conclusion you must review main points, reinforce purpose, and provide closure.
Example:
Now that we have gone over the history of the tough mudder, actually doing the mudder, and I have shared my experience I hope that you all are able to better understand this amazing event.(review and purpose) next year when the tough mudder comes to your town maybe you will be the one yelling Hooray!(closure)

Speech buddy videos Chapter 9 and 13

The 9.1 video was about writing a successful introduction. In order for an introduction to be successful you need an attention getter, a purpose and thesis that is clearly stated, preview main points, and all of this together will make a good foundation for your speech. The 9.2 video was about conclusions and how a successful conclusion leaves the listeners with a good impression of the topic, reviews main points, and reinforces purpose, and provides closure. In order to have a successful speech the introduction and conclusion are very important. The chapter 13 videos were all on speeches. The first speech about techno was very well organized and presented great I had nothing I would change. I hope I can use his eye contact and pace just as well. The speech about digital cameras was again a great speech. The main thing I noticed is though you could accidentally change to a persuasive speech all three speakers did a good job just giving facts. The last speech about Kosher was well organized, but she needed to work on her eye contact, her pace, and it seemed as though she could have practiced more. Overall I thought the first two speeches were awesome and the third one just needs a little more work.

Self Evaluation

For our demonstration speech my purpose was to explain the uses of magic cookie bars and demonstrate how to make them and I felt I achieved this purpose very successfully. I believe my success is due to the fact that I pretty comfortable and confident during this speech. The beginning I was a little nervous, so I looked down a lot and if I could have changed one thing it would be that I did not write anything on my note card for the introduction and first main point so I did not look down; thus would improve the delivery of my speech. I think that the note cards through me off a lot because I will be looking at my cards talking but I am not actually using them for reference at all I am just looking at them so I do not have to look at the audience. The only time I am actually successful at using my cards is when I really need the information in front of my eyes such as with sources. I also would have made a note card reminding me to cite my sources because I did awful with that. That leads me to my main goal which will improve my content of my next speech which will be to look more into my type of sources and exactly where they are coming from. Now that I have gone over what I felt I did right and wrong let’s go over what I remember I did wrong.

The issues of my delivery were many I feel I make many mistakes still. The first thing I noticed was that I looked down for most of the beginning. I also shift side to side and play with the note cards which can be a small distraction. My eye contact was approximately a seven. I did not look up much in the beginning, but after the first point I kept great eye contact once the nerves were gone. I did not cite any sources verbally which was my biggest flaw. This big mistake would make me give myself a B on my speech overall. I thought I prepared nicely, had good organization, I used my visual aid effectively, and the only bad parts were I looked down in the beginning and did not verbally cite my sources even though they were cited in my outline. If I was to be in the audience during my speech I would say that I had good interest in my topic, had a decent amount of credibility, great presentation, well organized points, and a good attention getter and ending line. I would tell me to work on citing sources even though it does sound funny and start off with good eye contact from the beginning. Other than that I would just say stay focused on relaxing and not letting nerves get to me, just think of the people in the room as people and they are here to help me they do not want me to fail.  Overall I did better than average, but I have a few mistakes to fix before I would say it was excellent.

Topic of the week: transitions

There are different categories of transitions and we must keep that in mind when writing our speeches. I know there are many times when I overlook how my main points are flowing, but it is an important detail. There are six categories of different transitions and it is important to use the right category. Ordering is the first transition this is going to include words like first, second, next, then finally, etc. Then there are reinforcing transitions which are also, likewise, in addition, moreover, further, etc. Next is contrasting which includes however, yet, whereas, unless, etc. Fourth is chronology or time this category includes recently, then, during, late, meanwhile, etc. Then we have causality which uses words like reason, with this in mind, etc. Finally there are summarizing or concluding transitions which are review, as I've discussed. I keep saying words but you are able to use phrases also as you can see. Overall just remember to use the right category and have your speech flow because your audience will be thrilled your speech is not choppy.

Facts and Stats

According to the book the best time to use facts or statistics is "when making a logical appeal". I think that during a speech it is best to state facts or statistics when it enhances your point. If I was to say do not drink and drive it would be helpful to have statistics with graphs and such like the drinking speech buddy video did. Now if I was doing a speech on how to make cookies statistics are not very relevant. I think that it is most helpful to use statistics when trying to persuade or inform your audience. It is least helpful when doing a demonstrative speech. I think that facts are important in a demonstrative speech and less relevant when you are trying to persuade or inform because people do not need to know your observations from your own experiences they need to know the statistics that will convince them to do what you want them to; however, you can use facts always in your introduction because they give you credibility. Overall it is a personal judgement and facts and statistics will always enhance your speech if they relate correctly to your point.

Speech Buddy Videos 7.1,7.2,8.1,8.2

When watching the speech buddy videos I thought the most helpful part was when they said what each supporting material appealed to. For example using a definition is an emotional and logical appeal. The video for 7.2 went over using the media and making sure your source is credible, reliable, and relevant to your topic. For 8.1 it went over the types of organization one is able to use for a speech these are chronological. spatial, topical, narrative, cause and effect, problem and solution, and Munro's motivated sequence. I found this video helpful because it went over what you can use each organization for such as using chronological to show history or the steps f a process. The 8.2 video went over transitions. I found it helpful that they showed some of the words to use with each transition an example is for ordering you would say first, second, third. Overall these videos just show the reading in an audible and visual way which I find helpful.

Techniques for speaking to diverse Audiences

This chapter is overall about how to target particular audiences, so I decided to address a few techniques that make it easier. One way to speak to a diverse audience is to find things that all the people you are speaking to have in common for example everyone likes cookies(well most). Make sure that you have credibility; which means being excited, friendly, and having experience, so for me I have been baking since I was three and I love it. Another thing is to include materials that will stand out to one particular group, but appeal to everyone, so in my case it will be using the ingredients to show how to make cookies. Last but not least use language everyone understands and do not ignore any audience member. Overall it is basic, but easy things to forget so I will try not to forget about you guys. Remember if you please your audience your speech will be successful!

Saturday, September 15, 2012

Audience analysis is very important in speeches because you want your topic to be able to relate to the audience. You can not plan a speech that will relate to your audience unless you know your audience. That is why you should use a survey with open and closed ended questions to gather the information you need to in order to better prepare your speech. Try to know your audiences background; such as, ethnicity, morals, age, sex, and personal interests. Also use audience adaption during your speech which is when you make adjustments depending on how your audience is responding to you. If they are rolling their eyes or seem bored try to add tone or change your voice in order to keep your audience interested. For me I will use audience analysis in knowing that my classmates are college students and many of them are parents, husbands, or wives, so when writing my speeches I will keep that in mind. I will use audience adaption by trying to pay attention to their reaction to my tone and pace of the speech. Overall I think it is important to keep in mind who you are speaking to because if you can keep them interested you are bound to have a successful speech.

Speech Buddy Videos Ch 5

The best thing that all three of these speeches did was pick a subject that the audience can relate to. The speech about drinking was perfect for college students. After all I have heard it many times "I am in college it is time to party". I thought it was great that he addressed the statistics and the way it affects your health. He had good visual aids, and did not look down to much. I thought he could have worked on his volume and voice tone a little bit. The speech on light pollution needed more eye contact and she spoke to fast. The part she did right was making sure we knew the main points. For the volunteer speech I thought she did a great job she had a strong introduction and conclusion while also picking a subject directed to college students and made sure we knew how it would benefit us. Overall what I learned from these videos is first having a topic that everyone in the room can relate to is important, making sure to have a good introduction and conclusion, strong visual aids (otherwise the audience wonders why we even have them), and tone of voice and eye contact can make or break the enjoyment of watching a speech.

Speech Buddy Videos

The chapter six videos were just about fallowing the research guidelines. I find the videos kind of helpful, but it just is repetition of what we read in the book. I however find it easier to read the book and take notes, but seeing it a second time is always helpful because the more you use your senses to remember something the more that you remember. I thought the video on snails was a great speech in both of the presented speeches it showed great eye contact. I also noticed that in both of the speeches the topics I could relate to; everyone has interacted with snails and everyone can relate to speeches that relate to family in anyway even if you have not been through the exact event the speaker is talking about you can try to imagine what it would be like. Overall the videos this week were semi- helpful.

Subject of the week: Internet sources

Gathering information is probably the most frustrating and hardest part of writing a speech or an essay for me, so lets discuss how to do searches successfully. First you want to make sure the source is relevant to the keywords you type in. Also use meta search engines which will bring all the results together so you can look at everything at once. Use search engines like google or yahoo so they hunt through information for you. Web directories are also available which organize in lists so your able to narrow it down by category. There are many sources such as the deep web that holds special databases like the ones from the government. You can also use blogs which are updated weekly, but you want to make sure there is credibility in your sources so sometimes blogs aren't the best choice. To make searching the Internet easier just use all your resources. Remember there are many search engines google is not the only one.

Research Interviews

All through my schooling I have never conducted a research interview. This is actually sort of sad I will admit. I have talked to a lot of people and I have done a lot of research, but I have never talked to someone in order to complete research. This means I could not say what went wrong or right or give any advice. This chapter must be for me because it gives a lot of advice on how to go about performing a research interview. When I finally do obtain a research interview I will use the six steps: having a purpose, picking the person to interview, preparing questions, organizing interview, performing the interview, and using the interview information in my speech. I think the main points that will be difficult for me are keeping it in a formal format. I tend to start talking and next thing I know I am having a conversation not performing an interview. I believe the easiest part for me will be putting the information in my speech because I love to reference different points of view I have obtained from others even in daily conversation. Though I could not tell you the true easiest and hardest parts of conducting a research interview those are my guesses. I am sure you are all much more knowledgeable on this topic, but for whatever reason I have never been required to do this task, so it will be interesting to see how it goes when I do.

Habituation

In the book the definition of habituation is "fearing a situation less as it becomes more familiar with repetition". I think this is an important topic to address because with our first speech coming up everyone will be getting nervous. In order to make habituation work it is important to practice your speech out loud and with others around if possible. Also tie in visualization to get the full feel for what speech day will be like and get more comfortable. Though the practice is what will make you feel more comfortable this time the more speeches you present the less scary it will be. Just remember habituation the more times you repeat an act the more familiar it is and the less scary getting up in front of an audience will be. Along with visualization use all the other tools the book presents; such as, being prepared, relabeling those negative feelings, and listening to the audiences reaction physically and verbally. I think if this is all put together each speech habituation will succeed.

Speech Buddy Videos

2.1
In this video they covered techniques to use to overcome that speech anxiety that we all get. Visualization is the first technique where you go to a quiet place, use all your senses, and imagine the speech going well from beginning to the end. Relabeling is when you use positive words for negative words. The example used in this video was "turning nervous energy into enthusiasm". Relaxation techniques include deep breathing which is diaphragm breathing, meditation breathing where you focus on thinking of nothing, but your breathing, and releasing tension breathing which occurs when you take a diaphragm breath and as you exhale focus on getting rid of the tension in a specific location; such as, your back.
2.2 This video talks about narrowing in on what you are personally most nervous for. In the guys case it was the location so he visited the location and used visualization. The girl seemed to be most worried about her content so she made sure to choose a topic that interested her and do in-depth research to cover all her basis.
Jessica's Intro was very interesting and a few things caught my attention; such as, she used the same line "when one door closes another door opens" in her introduction and conclusion.
From these videos I realized that the more passionate you are about your topic the smoother your speech will go, to use the techniques that have been discussed in the book and the videos, and that if prepared correctly by using speech anxiety techniques and being prepared public speaking may not be so bad.

My nightmare of public speaking

Reading through the chapters I realize not only do I have almost every single speech anxiety listed; such as my voice quivers, my whole body shakes not just one part, I talk fast, and my hands get sweaty, but I am also scared that I will not be able to organize my speech correctly. There are so many steps to fallow and so many different out looks. We have Cicero's view as the five arts, but then there are different ways to organize your invention, and then you have to take into consideration the different elements to public speaking. Reading the different uncertainties and all the ways of organization made me a little more scared for speech day. As the book states the anxiety just makes me want to put my speech together now and start practicing. Trying to figure out how I am going to get through this class without feeling like I am falling into a nightmare I read through the building confidence and to be honest I do not know that it will work; however I am willing to give it a shot, so over the next week it looks like I will be doing a lot of visualization and relabeling my anxiety as excitement.

Introduction

Hi all! I am Gabriell, but I go by Brie. I am taking an online class because I work seven days a week. Part time as a server and hostess and the other part as a receptionist. This is my class at sierra until I can transfer to either Sac state or another location to complete my B/A in social work and then hopefully move on to my masters. My dream career is to be a counselor for children. I love kids. I look forward to finishing this class so I am one step closer to my goal. Good luck to all.
